Riebeeck West, in the Western Cape, South Africa.

Cement group PPC and cement equipment and engineering company Sinoma Overseas Development Company.

Project Description
The project will replace and increase PPC’s existing capacity and involves the construction of a new low-carbon, 1.5-million-ton-a-year integrated cement plant. 

As the company will use an existing site, all mining rights and environmental approvals remain in place. 

This state-of-the-art plant will be equipped with the latest technology, including a dedicated solar generation system.

PPC's two existing plants, in the Western Cape will continue to operate during the construction and commissioning of the new plant. Once the new plant enters production, the existing plants will be mothballed.

Planned Start/End Date
The project will be commissioned by the end of 2026.

Latest Developments
The PPC board approved the capital expenditure of R3-billion for the build of the new plant in March this year.

The board also approved that PPC enter into an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with Sinoma in respect of the construction of the plant.
